Biography
Zachary L. Bercu, MD, RPVI, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Bercu is an interventional radiologist whose activities have focused on locoregional therapies including Yttrium-90 radioembolization (selective internal radiotherapy) and chemoembolization, thermal ablation of liver, renal, lung, bone, soft tissue tumors, pre-operative tumor embolization, vertebral ablation and augmentation, transradial interventions, prostate artery embolization, uterine artery embolization, deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and central venous stenosis recanalization, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS), balloon-occluded retrograde transvenous obliteration (BRTO), submassive pulmonary embolism, embolization guidance technology, peripheral arterial disease, and endovascular simulation. He has developed gesture-based image review solutions in the angiosuite and previously received a grant for mobile radiology education. He is involved in fostering innovation for clinical and educational efficacy and has presented internationally.
Dr. Bercu serves as the Clinical Site Director for Interventional Radiology at Emory University Hospital Midtown and is the Assistant Program Director for Interventional Radiology Residency and Fellowship at Emory. He also serves on the Steering Committee for the Georgia Center for Medical Robotics (GCMR) and is involved in several collaborative projects between Emory University and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Education
Dr. Bercu received his MD from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology and his fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
