Biography
Arash Grakoui, PhD, is a Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine and a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Emory University School of Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Grakoui is a core scientist and the director of graduate studies program in Immunology and Molecular Pathogenesis at Emory National Primate Research Center. He is also an investigator at Emory Center for AIDS research.
Dr. Grakoui is a member of the Cancer Immunology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute.
Education
Dr. Grakoui received his PhD in Immunology from Washington University in St. Louis. He then went on to perform his post-doctoral fellowship as a Cancer Research Institute Fellow in viral immunology at The Rockefeller University in New York.
Research
Dr. Grakoui's research is focused on understanding the inextricable connectivity between chronic viral infections and the immune system. His research is committed to making significant contributions to the understanding of liver disease and to the development and application of immunotherapy aimed at controlling chronic viral replication and end-stage liver disease ultimately preventing detrimental hepatic consequences.
