Biography

Aaron H. Lay, MD, is assistant professor in the Department of Urology at the Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Lay serves as chief of urology and director of the Endourology and Kidney Stone Program at Grady Memorial Hospital. A board certified urologist, Dr. Lay's clinical expertise is in the advanced minimally invasive surgical treatment of genitourinary cancer and stone disease. His clinical interests also include shock wave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy and robotic surgery.

Dr. Lay is a member of the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. He holds professional memberships with American Urological Association and Endourological Society.

Education

Dr. Lay received his Medical Degree from Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery internship and urology residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and did his endourology and minimally invasive surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Research

Dr. Lay's research focus revolves around minimally invasive techniques in urologic surgery. He also has interest in studying outcomes and disparities among patients with kidney stone disease. Additionally, he is actively involved in the development of new technologies aimed at enhancing the outcomes of patients undergoing urologic surgery.
