Winship Cancer Institute Celebrates 2014 Accomplishments

Winship Cancer Institute had an exceptional year beginning with several national recognitions. U.S. News & World Report ranked cancer care at Emory University Hospital through Winship among the 25 best in the country. Emory University Hospital and Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital were also honored with the prestigious Magnet recognition for nursing excellence in patient care.

Winship was named one of 30 U.S. cancer centers to be a Lead Academic Participating Site for the new National Cancer Institute’s National Clinical Trials Network. The network serves as the primary way phase II and III clinical trials are now conducted.

It was a record year for Winship’s premiere fundraising event. The Winship Win the Fight 5K in September brought in more than $600,000 for cancer research.

From discovering new therapeutic advancements to enrolling over 800 patients in our clinical trials, Winship continues to be a leader in the state of Georgia and in the nation in finding ways to defeat cancer.
