More than twenty Winship faculty and staff will present their research at the upcoming 2016 Annual Meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) in Boston, Sept. 25-28. In addition to poster presentations, Winship speakers will be featured in educational and scientific sessions, panel discussions and a plenary session.
Of particular note will be a plenary session on Sept. 26 in which Deborah W. Bruner, PhD, RN, will present her NRG Oncology study, "NRG Oncology/RTOG 0415, Phase III Non-Inferiority Study Comparing 2 Fractionation Schedules in Patients with Low-Risk Prostate Cancer: Prostate Specific Quality of Life Results." This study has been selected to be highlighted in the ASTRO press program. Bruner is Winship's associate director for mentorship, education and training, and a leader in clinical trials and oncology nursing.
On Sept. 28, Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD, will speak at an educational session focusing on Patterns of Care Studies (PCS). Curran, executive director of Winship and group chairman and principal investigator of NRG Oncology, will speak on "PCS: ties to prospective clinical trials."
Xiaofeng Yang, PhD is first author of a paper that won first place in the category of Physics in the Resident Poster Viewing Recognition Award for a study titled, “Multiparametric MRI-guided Radiotherapy for Prostate Cancer.” Co-authors include Ashesh B. Jani, MD, Peter J. Rossi, MD, Hui Mao, PhD, Walter J. Curran, MD and Tian Liu, PhD.
