Winship Cancer Institute faculty and trainees will present at the 59th annual meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) in San Diego, Sept. 24-27. The ASTRO meeting, the world's largest gathering of the radiation oncology community, focuses on advances in the applications, technologies, and methodologies of radiation oncology for the effective management of patients with cancer.

Winship speakers will be featured in educational and scientific sessions, panel discussions, and poster sessions.

Among the highlights, Winship radiation oncologist Mylin Torres, MD, director of the Glenn Family Breast Center, will deliver an oral presentation on the outcomes of radiation therapy-induced skin toxicity and long-term fatigue in breast cancer patients.

Radiation Oncology resident Richard Cassidy, MD, who received a Resident ePoster Recognition Award from ASTRO in advance of the conference, will discuss novel approaches to treatment planning for men with prostate cancer receiving radiotherapy.

Two dozen other Winship members will present their findings during the four-day meeting.
