Lana K. Uhrig, PhD, MBA, RN, is the new vice president of cancer nursing for Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.

Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University has announced Lana K. Uhrig, PhD, MBA, RN, as its new vice president of cancer nursing. Uhrig joins Winship from the University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute where she worked as the executive administrative director.

Uhrig will lead the ambulatory oncology nursing teams for Winship across Emory Healthcare and will oversee clinical quality, safety, outcomes, education, and oncology nursing research. She will be responsible for development and oversight of oncology nursing practice guidelines for Emory Healthcare to enhance the continuum of care.

"Lana brings a wealth of experience to her new role at Winship Cancer Institute," says Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD, Winship's executive director. "We are very excited to have her join our leadership team and impact patient care."

Prior to joining the University of Cincinnati, Uhrig served as oncology service line director at Adena Health System. She previously managed clinical trials and clinic and infusion operations at The Ohio State University where she earned her masters and doctorate degrees. In addition, she has been an adjunct professor in the College of Health and Public Administration at Franklin University since 2003, where she received her MBA. In 2011, Uhrig co-founded the Hope Clinic of Ross County, Ohio, a non-profit, free medical clinic, where she served as CEO and president.
