The 62nd annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) will take place virtually on December 5-8, 2020.
More than 30 investigators with Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University (Winship) will be presenting research at the American Society of Hematology (ASH) annual meeting taking place virtually Dec. 5-8. Winship faculty are authors or moderators on 19 oral abstract presentations and more than 30 poster sessions, and are also participants in scientific programs, satellite symposia, and other special presentations.
The pre-conference schedule includes the presentation "Blood Buddies: Adult Clinical Malignant Hematology," by Martha Arellano, MD on Dec. 3, and two satellite symposia on Dec. 4: Pamela B. Allen, MD, MSc will be a speaker in "T-Cell Lymphoma Tumor Board: Application of Novel Agents for the Treatment of PTCL and CTCL," and Sagar Lonial, MD will chair "Experts Debate Optimal Approaches to the Treatment of Multiple Myeloma." Also the 9th Annual BMT Winter Workshop, co-chaired by Winship's Edmund K. Walter, MD, PhD, will take place on Dec. 4th.
Featured presentations during the conference include an updated analysis of the Phase II GRIFFIN study, "Daratumumab Plus Lenalidomide, Bortezomib, and Dexamethasone (RVD) in Patients with Transplant-Eligible Newly Diagnosed Multiple Myeloma," by Winship multiple myeloma specialist Jonathan Kaufman, MD; and an oral abstract presentation by Winship hematologist Victor M. Orellana-Noia, MD, titled "CNS Prophylaxis during Front-Line Therapy in Aggressive Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas: Real-World Outcomes and Practice Patterns from 19 US Academic Institutions." Sagar Lonial, MD, will be co-moderate an oral session discussing CAR T therapies for multiple myeloma and plasma cell diseases: "CAR T Therapies for Myeloma: Novel Approaches and Longer-Term Follow Up Data."

The virtual conference will feature live Q&A sessions in several scientific programs. Madhav Dhodapkar, MBBS, director of the Winship Center for Cancer Immunology, is a panelist on “The Immune System in Multiple Myeloma." Shannon Meeks, MD, Emory Department of Pediatrics and Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, will chair a program on "Mechanisms and Modifiers of Bleeding," and co-chair a Special Symposium on the "Basic Science of Hemostasis and Thrombosis." Robert F. Sidonio, Jr., MD, also with Aflac, will co-chair "What the Children Can Teach Us: Congenital Immunodeficiencies Shed Light on Immunity, Hematopoiesis, and Cancer." Winship pediatric oncologist Tamara Miller, MD is a panelist on a live Q&A education program, "Improving Symptom Control for Children with Hematological Malignancies."
