Winship members are among Emory University School of Medicine faculty recognized and honored for their accomplishments and excellence in patient care, research and education, during Faculty Recognitions Week.

Every year, Emory University School of Medicine celebrates Faculty Recognitions Week, this year held during the week of October 26, when faculty are recognized and honored for all of their accomplishments and excellence in patient care, research and education. On October 28, the 7th Annual Celebration of Faculty Excellence was held virtually to celebrate all the accomplishments and to present this year's recipients with various awards as nominated by the School of Medicine Recognitions Committee.

Several Winship faculty are recipients of this year's awards:

Viraj Master, MD, PhD, and Maria Russell, MD, are among the recipients of the Dean's Teaching Award. They were nominated by colleagues and students and chosen by the Teaching Awards Committee for their dedication to medical student teaching and their many contributions as course directors and mentors.

Keith Delman, MD, and Andrew Miller, MD, have been selected to receive the School of Medicine Mentoring Award recognizing faculty who have demonstrated outstanding mentoring in the domains of education, service, and/or research to trainees or early career faculty during the past year.

Wilbur Lam, MD, PhD, is the recipient of the Innovation for Impact Award established by the School of Medicine Recognitions Committee on behalf of the Dean to recognize faculty inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs whose contributions resulted in a significant impact on human health or have the potential to be paradigm-shifting.

Olatunji Alese, MD, Leslie Lawley, MD, Dorothy Lerit, PhD, and Jolinta Lin, MD, are among the Hidden Gems nominated by department leadership in recognition of their outstanding, but often unnoticed or unrecognized, contributions to Emory or beyond.

Muxiang Zhou, MD, Jennifer Felger, PhD, Andrew Miller, MD, and David Schuster, MD, are recipients of the 2020 Emory 1% Award. The honor recognizes Emory faculty whose National Institutes of Health (NIH) proposals have been ranked in the top 1% by NIH reviewers.

A number of Winship researchers were among the Emory faculty named to the MilliPub Club, which recognizes those who have published one or more individual papers throughout their careers that have garnered more than 1,000 citations. The list of Winship recipients includes:
