Fashion a Cure event raises critical funds for women’s cancer research at Winship

The 2022 Friends of Winship Fashion a Cure Fashion Show on May 3 raised more than $280,000 to support research conducted at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in cancers that affect women. This year's theme was "Around the World" and featured travel-inspired fashions from local boutiques and designers. Models included cancer survivors, caregivers, Winship researchers and volunteers.

Nearly 300 guests attended the event. An auction, raffle and a luncheon, held outdoors due to COVID-related precautions, complemented the day's activities. The event was held at the Piedmont Driving Club and in-person for the first time since 2020.

The Fashion a Cure Fashion Show, which has raised more than $1.2 million since 2013, provides funding for and increases awareness in advancing research in cancers that affect women.

"Winship is very fortunate to have the continued support of Friends of Winship and other partners in our community," says Suresh Ramalingam, MD, executive director of Winship, "The funds raised by the 'Fashion a Cure' event will provide critical support for research to accelerate progress towards Winship's mission of discovering cures for cancer and inspiring hope."

Kay Buckham, Missy Craver and Susan Flinn co-chaired the event.

"I was so proud to be part of the team of Friends of Winship volunteers and staff who worked so hard to produce the 2022 Fashion A Cure event," says Buckham. "The combination of beautiful fashions from our boutiques, auction items and gifts from our generous donors, and Piedmont Driving Club as our backdrop added together for a very successful day."
