Rafi Ahmed, PhD, co-leader of Winship's Cancer Immunology Research Program, will deliver the 20th AACR-Irving Weinstein Foundation Distinguished Lecture at the annual meeting.
Researchers from Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University will present key lectures and share their latest discoveries at the 115th annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in San Diego, April 5-10, 2024.
With more than 54,000 members from 130 countries and territories, AACR is the first and largest cancer research organization dedicated to accelerating progress in cancer. Its annual meeting brings together cancer researchers for a multidisciplinary scientific conference to address emerging challenges and present new findings in basic, translational, clinical, prevention and population research.
Renowned virologist and immunologist Rafi Ahmed, PhD, co-leader of Winship's Cancer Immunology Research Program, will deliver the 20th AACR-Irving Weinstein Foundation Distinguished Lecture. The award lecture, selected annually by the AACR President, recognizes outstanding scientific innovators and thought leaders with the potential to inspire creative thinking and new directions in cancer research. Ahmed, who is also the director of the Emory Vaccine Center and the Charles Howard Candler Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Emory University School of Medicine, is being honored for his research achievements in immune cell function and the molecular mechanisms of immunological memory.
Ahmed’s award lecture represents one of 40 Winship presentations at AACR 2024. Winship researchers will present their work during plenary and “advances in sciences” sessions, major and mini symposia, poster sessions and a town hall meeting.
