Congressman John Lewis has represented the 5th Congressional District for over 30 years. It is home to some of the largest health care organizations in the world, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Emory University, and Winship Cancer Institute.

Last fall, he announced the awarding of more than $115 million in new federal grants to institutions in his district, including a dozen Emory projects.

A tireless advocate for human rights, Congressman Lewis has dedicated much of his time to advocating for access to healthcare for all Americans. "Congressman Lewis has been enthusiastic about having a strong cancer research institution in his town," explains Walter J. Curran, Jr., executive director. "He has been supportive of all of Winship's research activities and has spoken on our behalf in many grant applications. We are grateful to have him in our corner."
