Robert DuWors has had a significant impact on Winship Cancer Institute's quest to become a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. As a long-standing member of Winship's External Advisory Board, he offered candid advice based on his many years of experience in the field. Kimberly Kerstann, PhD, Winship's senior director of research administration, says "he challenged us all to reach our full potential as a cancer center."
For nearly 30 years, DuWors served as a research administrator in the University of California system focusing on financial, personnel, and facilities management as well as program planning and development.
"Rob's attention to detail and eye for excellence was instrumental in Winship's growth and progression to an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center," Kerstann explains. "His contributions over the years have been significant in helping Winship to realize its goals." Even as a retired administrator, DuWors continues to be engaged, acting as an ad hoc reviewer for grant documents and a mentor to Winship staff.
