Biography
Faiz U. Ahmad, MD, is an Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery at the Emory University School of Medicine, as well as Director of Spinal Surgery at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital. He also serves as the Director of Spinal Neurosurgery and Neuro-trauma at Grady Memorial Hospital and Grady Health System. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, Dr. Ahmad specializes in the treatment of spinal tumors, minimally invasive methods of treating spinal disorders, artificial cervical disc replacement, use of advanced computer-assisted navigation techniques in spinal surgery, and complex spinal reconstruction surgery.
Education
Dr. Ahmad received an MD from All-India Institute of Medical Sciences. He completed his neurosurgical residency and two fellowships, including a complex spinal surgery fellowship, at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Research
Dr. Ahmad's research interests include spinal injury, minimally invasive neurosurgery and traumatic brain injury. He has served as principal investigator for several national multi-center trials on spinal cord injury and brain injury.
Publications
Dr. Ahmad is a prolific researcher, contributing over 200 peer reviewed papers, book chapters, abstracts and oral presentations. He also serves as an editor and reviewer for several national and international peer-reviewed neurosurgical journals, and has served on several national and regional neurosurgery committees at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Young Neurosurgeons Committee and Georgia Neurosurgical Society.
