Michael R. Aho, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Aho is a board certified radiologist specializing in breast imaging and is Director of Breast Imaging at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital. As a member of the Emory Healthcare Breast Imaging Center, he interprets all breast imaging modalities (mammogram, tomosynthesis, etc.) and imaging guided procedures/biopsies. Prior to joining Emory, he was in private practice at Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, Georgia, and Chesterfield and Marlboro Park Hospitals in rural South Carolina. He worked as an engineer for five years prior to medical school.
Dr. Aho holds professional memberships with American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, American Medical Association and American College of Medical Quality.
Dr. Aho received his Medical Degree from Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. He completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology in the Department of Radiology at Medical University of South Carolina where he graduated with “Distinction in Scholarly Activity”. He also completed a fellowship in Breast Imaging in the Department of Radiology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Aho's research interests include utilization of screening breast MRI for high-risk patients and correlation of MRI findings with targeted breast ultrasound. He continues to use his engineering background in process and quality improvement projects within the radiology environment.
