Biography
Dr. Baumgarten began practicing at Emory in 1995 and is affiliated with Emory University Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory St. Joseph's Hospital, and Grady Memorial Hospital. She has been board certified in Radiology since 1994. Her clinical interests are in imaging of genitourinary cancers as well as thyroid cancer, melanoma, and lymphoma. She is a member of the American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, Radiological Society of North America, and the Society of Abdominal Radiology (for which she is President, 2014-2015).
Education
Dr. Baumgarten earned her Doctor of Medicine from Emory University School of Medicine where she also completed her internship, residency, and fellowship. In addition, she earned her Master of Public Health from Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health.
Research
Dr. Baumgarten conducts research in the advancement and best use of CT and ultrasound. Current research includes imaging of the thyroid in collaboration with the Department of Otolaryngology, the Department of Pathology, and the Division of Neuroradiology.

Dr. Baumgarten serves as a reviewer for the American Journal of Roentgenology, Radiology, Journal of the American College of Radiology, European Journal of Radiology, and Abdominal Imaging and is or has served on the editorial boards of Radiology, the American Journal of Kidney Diseases, American Journal of Roentgenology, Radiology Case Reports, Journal of the American College of Radiology and Abdominal Imaging. She has published over 35 peer-reviewed articles and six book chapters in additional to contributing to numerous meeting symposia and educational exhibits.

Dr. Baumgarten has received Teacher of the Year from Emory Radiology Residents, the Distinguished Service Award from the American Board of Radiology, and both the Outstanding Mentor Award and Outstanding Service Award from the Emory Department of Radiology.
