Chandar Bhimani, MD specializes in the treatment of oncologic and hematologic disorders such as breast, lung, colon, prostate and blood disorders. He has a special interest in the treatment of breast and gastrointestinal related cancers. He has extensive experience working as a Hospitalist and Internal Medicine physician. Dr. Bhimani is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Board eligible in Hematology and Oncology.


Dr. Bhimani received his medical degree from Liaquat medical college, Jamshoro, Pakistan. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training at Mount Sinai, an affiliate of Queens Medical Center, NY. After completion of his residency, he worked as a Hospitalist and Internal Medicine physician in the State of Washington before joining the faculty in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Emory University Winship Cancer Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. He has previously worked at the Georgia Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, GA. He completed his three year fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology at the Winship Cancer Institute.


Dr Bhimani’s research interests include the evaluation of newly approved therapeutic agents on the survival of small cell lung cancer patients, gene expression, tumor biology of pulmonary neuroendocrine neoplasm, and differentiated thyroid cancers. His focus is in providing individualized cancer care and ensuring quality of life of survivors. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Bhimani participates in teaching and training residents and fellows. Also, Dr. Bhimani participated in basic science research project to assess role of immunomodulatory response in Thyroid cancer.  To assess the response rate of 2nd line chemotherapy in platinum resistant small cell lung cancer and to assess the role of high dose vs. stand dose of chemotherapy in stage III non-small cell lung cancer.


Dr. Bhimani has co-authored multiple abstracts.
