Biography

Jae Won Chang, PhD, holds a joint appointment as assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology, and the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Chang is a member of the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute.

Education

Dr. Chang earned his PhD in Chemistry and Chemical Biology at The Scripps Research Institute as a California Institute for Regenerative Medicine Predoctoral Fellow.

Research

Dr. Chang's research interests have concentrated on developing novel chemical probes to solve problems in various fields including chemical biology, chemical proteomics, metabolomics, medicinal chemistry, and molecular imaging, as well as challenges in modern biology such as cancer therapy. The chemical probes would be useful for the development of potent and specific drugs targeting poorly characterized proteins from the earliest stages of target validation through medicinal chemistry optimization and even through pharmacodynamic studies during clinical trials.
