Biography

Brooke Cherven, PhD, MPH, RN, CPON, is Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Cherven also serves as a Nurse Scientist and mentor for nursing and allied health research in the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorder Center.

Dr. Cherven is a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Program Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. She holds professional memberships with Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses, Children’s Oncology Group and Oncology Nursing Society.

Education

Dr. Cherven earned her Phd from University of Alabama at Birmingham. She earned her Master of Public Health from Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. She is a Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse (CPON®) by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation.

Research

Dr. Cherven's research focuses on reproductive health among adolescent and young adult cancer survivors. Her research interests are informed by her extensive clinical experience as a pediatric oncology nurse with the Aflac Cancer Survivor and Fertility Preservation programs.

Dr. Cherven's doctoral work focused on the human papillomavirus vaccine among young adult cancer survivors and as a faculty researcher, she is focused on fertility assessment and sexual health among cancer survivors. She also serves as a Nurse Scientist and mentor for nursing and allied health research in the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorder Center.
