Biography
Maria Diab, MD, is Assistant Professor in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. A medical oncologist, Dr. Diab specializes in the treatment of pancreatic cancer and other gastrointestinal malignancies.
Dr. Diab is a member of the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Research Program at Winship. She holds professional memberships with American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology.
Education
Dr. Diab received her Medical Degree from Damascus University in Damascus, Syria. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. She completed her fellowship in hematology/oncology at Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan.
Research
Dr. Diab's research focuses on the management of pancreatic cancer. Throughout her training, she has had the opportunity to test novel agents, selective inhibitors of nuclear export (SINEs), on preclinical models of pancreatic cancer. She has also studied drivers of cachexia in this disease.
