Biography
Michael Epstein, PhD, is professor in the Department of Human Genetics at Emory University School of Medicine and serves as scientific director of Emory Integrated Computation Core. He also serves as director of the Center of Computational and Quantitative Genetics, which is focused on development and application of quantitative tools for mapping genes involved in human traits.
Education
Dr. Epstein received his PhD and MS from University of Michigan.
Research
Dr. Epstein's research focuses on statistical techniques for human gene mapping of complex traits. This work involves two synergistic components: a methodological component focused on developing novel statistical techniques for improved gene mapping and an applied component focused on using existing methods to map genes involved in diseases such as schizophrenia, epilepsy, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
