Biography
As a fellow at Barnes Hospital at Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Force worked with Dr. Joel Cooper, who is credited with performing the first successful lung transplant. Since becoming the surgical director of Emory's adult lung transplant program in 2003, Dr. Force has improved the service's transplant survival rates by revamping its protocols and procedures. The program's lung transplant volume has also tripled to 30 transplants annually from an average of 10 per year prior to Dr. Force's arrival.
Education
Dr. Force earned his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then completed his fellowship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St Louis, Missouri.
