Biography
Dr. Halkar is the Director of Nuclear Radiology at Grady Memorial Hospital. A board certified nuclear medicine physician, Dr. Halkar has clinical expertise in thyroid cancer and neuroendocrine tumor management.
He serves on the board of directors of the Intersocietal Accreditation Committee and as a grant reviewer for Department of Defense and National Institutes of Health study sections.
Education
Dr. Halkar earned his medical degree from the Government Medical College in Bellary, India, where he completed an internship as well. He then completed his residency in nuclear medicine at Emory University Hospital and conducted his PET fellowship at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
Research
Dr. Halkar’s area of research interest is imaging and therapy with radio-labeled folate.

Dr. Halkar received the Marshall Brucer Award from the Southeastern Chapter of Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging in 2012 for his contributions to nuclear medicine.
