Biography
Jeanne E. Hendrickson, MD, is professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. A pediatric hematologist and transfusion medicine specialist, Dr. Hendrickson's clinical interests include factors influencing alloimmunization, particularly red blood cell alloimmunization, as well as strategies to minimize the formation and dangers of such antibodies.
Dr. Hendrickson serves as medical director of the Hemapheresis Service at Emory University Hospital, and as associate director of the Emory Center for Transfusion and Cellular Therapies.
Dr. Hendrickson is a member of the Cancer Immunology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
Education
Dr. Hendrickson received her Medical Degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, where she went on to complete her pediatric residency and peditraic hematology/oncology fellowship. She completed a transfusion medicine fellowship at Emory University Center for Transfusion and Cellular Therapies.
Research
Dr. Hendrickson's translational research interests include investigating the induction and consequences of red blood cell alloantibodies in transfusion and pregnancy situations, in murine models and in the clinical setting.
Publications
Dr. Hendrickson has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. She serves on the editorial boards of Transfusion and Blood.
