Biography

Dio Kavalieratos, PhD, PhD, FAAHPM, is an associate professor and director of research and quality for the Division of Palliative Medicine, within the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at Emory University. Dr. Kavalieratos is a health services researcher with expertise in qualitative methods, patient-reported outcomes, clinical trials, and evidence synthesis. He is keenly interested in mentoring trainees of all disciplines and stages regarding research and quality improvement in palliative care.

Dr. Kavalieratos' work focuses on development, evaluation, and implementation of models of palliative care delivery in serious chronic illness. Dr. Kavalieratos received the 2019 Early Career Investigator Award from the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM), and he serves as Chair Elect of the AAHPM's Research Committee.
