Xu Liu, PhD, MS, is assistant professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Liu is a member of the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute.
Dr. Liu received his MS in biochemistry from Beijing Normal University in China. He earned his PhD from University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. He completed his postdoctoral training at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, primarily in the laboratory of Eric Ortlund, PhD.
With a background in biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology, Dr. Liu's long-standing research interest is to study protein-ligand (drug) interactions to improve medical treatment to human illness. Dr. Liu explored the structure, dynamics and thermodynamic origins of distinct specificities of PDZ-ligand interactions during his PhD studies with support by an American Heart Association predoctoral fellowship.
