Biography

Mohammed F. Loya, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at Emory University School of Medicine. An interventional radiologist, Dr. Loya specializes in locoregional radiotherapies including Y90 radioembolization, chemoembolization, and thermal ablation of liver, renal, lung, bone, and soft tissue tumors. Additional clinical specialties include pre-operative tumor embolization, vertebral ablation and augmentation, deep venous thrombosis and central venous stenosis recanalization, inferior vena cava filter placements and retrievals, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts, antegrade and retrograde transvenous obliteration of varices which may contribute to bleeding, arteriovenous malformations and oncologic related pain therapies.

Dr. Loya serves as Assistant Program Director of Diagnostic and Interventional Integrated Residency, as well as, Independent Interventional Radiology Residency Program at Emory University School of Medicine.

Dr. Loya holds professional memberships with Society of Interventional Radiology, Radiology Society of North America, American Board of Radiology, and Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe.

Education

Dr. Loya received his MD from the American University of the Caribbean in St Maarten. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Nassau University Medical center where he also served as Chief Resident. He completed his fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at Emory University School of Medicine, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Research

Dr. Loya's research interests are in the areas of interventional oncology, AV malformations, systemic and portal venous disease as well as musculoskeletal and pain management.
