Biography

Edward S. Mocarski, Jr., PhD, serves as Robert W. Woodruff Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology of Emory University School of Medicine and as a Professor in Emory Vaccine Center at Emory University. Prior to joining Emory, Dr. Mocarski was a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology and Associate Dean of Research at Stanford University. Dr. Mocarski is a member of the Cell and Molecular Biology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute.

Education

Dr. Mocarski obtained his PhD in Microbiology from the University of Iowa. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Virology at The University of Chicago.

Research

Dr. Mocarski’s research over the past decade has focused on the infected cell response to infection, mainly the contribution of regulated cell death pathways to host defense.
