Biography

Susan C. Modesitt, MD, FACOG, FACS, is professor and director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Modesitt leads the gynecologic oncology program and serves as chair of the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. A board certified gynecologic oncologist, Dr. Modesitt specializes in the treatment of gynecologic malignancies, and is an attending based primarily at Emory University Hospital and Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Midtown. Prior to joining Emory, she was professor and division director of gynecologic oncology at the University of Virginia.

Dr. Modesitt is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons and has served in multiple leadership roles and committees for Society of Gynecologic Oncology, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and NRG Oncology. She is a member of the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.

Education

Dr. Modesitt completed medical school at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and her gynecologic oncology fellowship at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Research

Dr. Modesitt's research focuses on hereditary cancers, obesity-related cancers and clinical trials in gynecologic oncology.
