Biography

Joseph C. Rimando, MD, is assistant professor in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. A hematologist, Dr. Rimando specializes in stem cell therapy and in the treatment of patients with leukemia.

Dr. Rimando is a member of the Cancer Immunology Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. He holds professional memberships with American Society of Hematology and American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Education

Dr. Rimando received his MD from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. He completed his residency and a postdoctoral research fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his fellowship in hematology/medical oncology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.

Research

Dr. Rimando conducts clinical and translational research aimed at optimizing allogeneic transplantation for acute leukemia and improving treatment options for patients with acute leukemia relapsing after allogeneic transplantation.
