Biography

Margaret A. Riso, MD, is assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Emory University School of Medicine. A pain management physician, Dr. Riso collaborates with oncologists at Winship to treat patients with cancer suffering from chronic pain symptoms.

Dr. Riso holds professional memberships with American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Regional Anesthesia, International Spine Intervention Society, American Academy of Pain Medicine, International Anesthesia Research Society, and Georgia Society of Anesthesiologists.

Education

Dr. Riso received her MD from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her fellowship in pain medicine at Emory University, and completed her anesthesiology residency at University of California Irvine.

Research

Dr. Riso's research is centered in the promotion of gender and ethnic diversity within pain medicine. She has an ongoing project to investigate perceived barriers for entering the specialty for pain management.
