David M. Schuster, MD, is Professor in the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Schuster is Director of the Division of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and is a Georgia Research Alliance Distinguished Scientist. He is a member of the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics research program at Winship Cancer Institute.


Dr. Schuster earned his Medical Degree from the Albany Medical College, where he completed his internship as well. He completed his residency at Tufts University. He conducted his Fellowship in Nuclear Medicine at Emory University.


Dr. Schuster's research focus concerns projects involving molecular and nuclear imaging, with a special emphasis on positron emission tomography cancer imaging with novel radiotracers for cancer diagnosis and staging, especially the use of amino acid transport imaging for oncologic applications. He is principal investigator on multiple NIH studies and other sponsored research grants.

Dr. Schuster is widely published and has lectured nationally and internationally, and is also known for his co-authorship of the book "A Clinician's Guide to Nuclear Medicine". He serves in an NIH study section and reviews for medical journals.

Dr. Schuster is the recipient of the Society of Nuclear Medicine Tetalman Award and the Association of University Radiologists (AUR) Radiology Research Alliance New Investigator Award, 2014
