Marty T. Sellers, MD, MPH, FACS, is Associate Professor in the Division of Transplantation of the Department of Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine. A board certified liver transplant surgeon, Dr. Sellers specializes in treating malignancies of the liver and biliary tract with a primary focus on the surgical and non-surgical management of hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma.
Prior to joining Emory, he directed the hepatobiliary service and was an abdominal transplant surgeon at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He currently serves as president of the Georgia Liver Coalition, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of hepatocellular carcinoma that he co-founded in 2013.
Dr. Sellers is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute. He holds professional memberships with American Society of Transplant Surgeons, Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, International Liver Cancer Association, and American Public Health Association.
Dr. Sellers received his MD, completed a research fellowship in surgical oncology, and completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his fellowship in multi-organ transplantation at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He received his Master of Public Health from Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health.
Dr. Seller's research interests include hepatobiliary malignancies, primarily hepatocellular carcinoma, and hilar and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.
Dr. Sellers has published articles in numerous peer-reviewed journals including Nature Medicine, Journal of Immunology, Journal of Clinical Investigation, American Journal of Transplantation and Annals of Surgery, and is a veteran speaker on topics ranging from various cancers to transplantation to organ donation.
