Biography
Monica Serra, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology's Division of General Medicine and Geriatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Serra is also a research health scientist at Atlanta VA Medical Center.
Dr. Serra is a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
Education
Dr. Serra obtained her PhD in Exercise, Nutrition and Preventive Health from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and her MS in Nutrition from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She then completed training in gerontology as a fellow at University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.
Research
Dr. Serra has a broad background in nutrition and exercise physiology with additional training and expertise in gerontology. Her research focuses on the use of nutrition and exercise interventions to improve quality of life, physical function and metabolism and reduce fatigue following the development of chronic disease.
