Biography
Suma Shankar, MD, PhD, is Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Shankar is a member of the Cell and Molecular Biology Research Program at Winship.
Education
Dr. Shankar earned her MD from Bangalore Medical College in India. She also holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Iowa. Dr. Shankar completed a residency in ophthalmology at the Royal College of Opthamologists, a residency in medical genetics at the University of California San Francisco, and a fellowship in pediatric opthamology at the University of Iowa.
Research
Dr. Shankar's research interests include chromosomal deletion/duplication syndromes, single gene disorders, eye genetic disorders, lysosomal storage disorders and rasopathies.
