Biography

Kristen D. Starbuck, MD, is assistant professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine. As a gynecologic cancer specialist, Dr. Starbuck collaborates with gynecologic cancer teams to deliver top care to patients at Emory Decatur Hospital. She specializes in the treatment of cervical, ovarian, uterine, vulvar and vaginal cancer.

Education

Dr. Starbuck received her medical degree from University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. She completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Case Western Reserve University's Metrohealth and Cleveland Clinic combined residency program in Cleveland, Ohio. Following residency she was a postdoctoral research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Subsequently she completed a Gynecologic Oncology fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute at University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York.

Research

Dr. Starbuck's research focus is on glycoprotein expression in ovarian cancer and the influence of chemokines in the ovarian cancer immune microenvironment. Additional research interests include early phase and translational research, phase 2/3 clinical trials, role of immunotherapy in gynecological cancers, and patient resilience and health outcomes.
