Biography
Amol M. Takalkar, MD, MS, MBA, FACNM, is Professor in the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Takalkar is a board certified nuclear medicine and molecular imaging specialist with expertise in PET/CT probes and in targeted internal radiation therapies with therapeutic radionuclides.
Dr. Takalkar is a member of the Developmental Therapeutics Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute. He is a Fellow of the American College of Nuclear Medicine. He holds professional memberships with Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging, American College of Nuclear Medicine, Radiological Society of North America, American College of Radiology and Indo-American Society of Nuclear Medicine.
Education
Dr. Takalkar completed his Medical Degree at the B.J. Medical College in Pune, India. He received his Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, and received his Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University Shreveport in Shreveport, Louisiana. After completing his General Surgery Residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, New York, he completed his Nuclear Medicine Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Research
Dr. Takalkar's research interests include molecular imaging and therapy using fluorodeoxyglucose and other PET probes for oncology, cardiovascular, neurological and inflammatory pathologies.
