Biography
Joshua H. Winer, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology of the Department of Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine. Certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery and surgical critical care, Dr. Winer is an expert in the performance of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemoperfusion (HIPEC), an innovative cancer treatment that delivers highly concentrated, heated chemotherapy directly to the abdomen, which allows for higher doses of chemotherapy than systemic chemotherapy delivery.
Dr. Winer is a member of both the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Surgical Oncology.
Education
After obtaining his medical degree in 2004 from the University of Maryland, Dr. Winer completed his general surgery residency and surgical critical care fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Prior to joining Emory, he completed his surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Research
Dr. Winer's research focuses on high risk colon cancer subtypes and intraoperative technology application.
