Hui Zhang, PhD, is Instructor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Zhang is a member of the Cancer Genetics and Epigenetics research program at Winship Cancer Institute.
Dr. Zhang received her MD and her PhD from Peking University in Beijing, China. She completed her postdoctoral training in molecular biology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Zhang's research looks at how cells respond to DNA damage and how this knowledge can be utilized for improvements in cancer diagnosis and treatment. In particular, she is investigating the roles of sirtuins, a family of NAD+ dependent deacetylases, in the DNA damage response as well as the functional substrates in DNA damage response. The findings of this research are expected to provide novel targets for cancer therapy or biomarkers for cancer prognosis.
