Biography

An oncology certified nurse, Caitlyn Carson, RN, BSN, is a nurse navigator for Winship at Emory Johns Creek Hospital and Emory at Buford clinic. Ms. Carson is responsible for navigating all oncology patients from the point of diagnosis to survivorship. She works with multiple departments including, but not limited to, breast imaging, surgical oncology, medical oncology, and radiation oncology. Her role includes providing patient education regarding diagnosis and treatment, facilitating referrals to supportive services (social work, dietary, genetics, etc), coordinating multiple appointments for patients crossing multiple disciplines and departments, and ensuring that patients have the support that is needed during the continuum of care.

She has been a part of the Winship navigation team since September 2015, serving as a navigator for multiple disease sites, including breast, thoracic, and melanoma. Prior to coming to Winship, Ms. Carson worked on the Oncology/Women's services inpatient unit at Piedmont Hospital and has also held several positions working with pediatric patients.

Ms. Carson is a local and national member of the Oncology Nursing Society.

Education

Ms. Carson earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia.
