Liz Lawson Favaro RN, BSN, is the nurse navigator in breast health at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital. She navigates patients from mammography through diagnosis of breast cancer. She provides patients with education regarding abnormal mammograms, biopsies and self-breast exams. She helps coordinate multiple appointments for patients and ensures that patients have the support needed during the continuum of care.
Mrs. Favaro was previously the nurse navigator in interventional radiology where she navigated patients diagnosed with liver cancer needing target therapies. She has extensive experience with radiopharmaceuticals and the coordination of care required for the therapies.
Prior to becoming a nurse navigator, Mrs. Favaro practiced nursing for thirty years in adult and pediatric cardiology. Her specialties included adult and pediatric electrophysiology. She participated in research at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science for long QT syndrome and sudden cardiac death. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 2008 to join Emory Healthcare.
Mrs. Favaro is a member of the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators.
Mrs. Favaro received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baylor University in Waco, Texas in 1983.
