Summer Al-Majed, LMSW, is part of the medical oncology and neuro-oncology teams at Winship Cancer Institute working with patients with brain and spine tumors, and aerodigestive malignancies. Ms. Al-Majed has always been passionate about working with oncology patients and their loved ones. While obtaining her Master of Social Work degree, she began her career at Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center in Miami, Florida as an Oncology Social Work Graduate Intern. She then moved to New York City and began working for the American Cancer Society, navigating oncology patients in health care systems in both New York and New Jersey. During this time, she focused on assisting Arabic speaking patients who had been diagnosed with cancer. Her experience with the American Cancer Society led her to a position at DeKalb Medical in Decatur, Georgia as an Outpatient Oncology Social Worker. There she provided psychosocial support, counseling services, and navigation to patients of all cancer diagnoses.
Ms. Al-Majed is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Association of Oncology Social Work.
Ms. Al-Majed graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Richmond: The American International University in London, England. She then obtained her Master of Social Work degree from Florida International University in Miami, Florida.
