Biography

Anna Bausum, ND, serves in the role of integrative oncology specialist in the Integrative Oncology and Survivorship Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. A licensed naturopathic doctor, she is passionate about supporting individuals who are managing cancer diagnoses and collaborates with inter-professional colleagues to incorporate a variety of integrative medicine tools alongside patients' conventional oncology care regimens.

Naturopathic oncology became of great importance to her early because of experiences that showed her conventional oncology care may not address some important fundamentals necessary for individuals to thrive, at every stage of cancer care. Dr. Bausum believes integrative oncology support helps people live better with cancer.

Integrative oncology recommendations are tailored to each unique individual's needs, diagnosis, and circumstances. However, it is important to note, integrative oncology support does not treat cancer. Rather, this area of expertise is one designed to minimize side effects, support recovery, enhance quality of life, and optimize outcomes for those individuals motivated to incorporate evidence-informed, natural, and holistic therapies alongside their conventional treatment plan.

Dr. Bausum has experience and training in a wide variety of medicine, including training from the Institute for Functional Medicine, functional health literacy research at Northwestern University School of Medicine, work experience in translational bench research and interventional clinical trials, and has participated in a wide variety of health advocacy work including participating in a round table discussion on the state of healthcare with the Secretary of Health and Human Services, national legislative lobbying, and more.

Education

Dr. Bausum graduated as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in California and she holds a license as a naturopathic doctor.
