Biography
Sandra J. Karem, LCSW, enjoys working with people of all ages and has always had the desire to work within the medical system. Ms. Karem worked with adults in her work with the developmentally disabled in the group home setting and at an internship at Piedmont Hospital on the orthopaedic floor. She worked with children and teens at her internship at the Sickle Center at Grady Hospital and at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta with children who had suffered traumatic brain injuries. She was able to work with the entire family system while working as a hospice social worker and as a bereavement coordinator. She provided support to the individuals and families facing end of life issues and provided counseling services to the bereaved. Ms. Karem is also a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist and facilitated several support groups.
Education
Ms. Karem graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh and earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia.
