Biography

As Senior Director of the Clinical Trials Office at Winship, Amy M. Overby is responsible for providing expertise and strategic direction to all aspects of cancer specific clinical research supported by the Winship Clinical Trials Office, including National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Clinical Protocol Data Management operations. She joined Winship from the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she served as the associate director for research administration and director of the Clinical Research Office.

Ms. Overby has extensive experience in clinical research, biotechnology, and laboratory sciences. During her tenure at the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center, she was involved in the operations of the center's clinical trials program as well as preparations for the Cancer Center Support Grant renewal. She also served as interim director of the New Mexico Cancer Care Alliance, a statewide network based at the cancer center and dedicated to ensuring all residents of New Mexico have access to cancer clinical trials. The Alliance, a not-for-profit 501c(3), is funded in part by the cancer center's NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) grant for Minority/Underserved Community Sites.

Ms. Overby is a member of American Society for Clinical Pathologist, American Society for Matrix Biology, Association of Genetic Technologist, Biomedical Engineering Society and Society for Biomaterials.

Education

Ms. Overby received her BSs in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and BioInformatics from Towson University in Towson, Maryland.
