Avril M. Phillips, LCSW, ACM-SW, provides clinical social work interventions for patients in the Department of Otolaryngology's Division of Head and Neck Surgery at Emory University Hospital Midtown. Before joining the department, Avril worked at Emory University Hospital as an inpatient clinician covering all service areas to include oncology, general medicine, cardiac, etc. She spent the majority of her career at Emory as a licensed social worker specifically with solid organ transplant, where she provided crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and education to families and patients surrounding their specific needs.
Ms. Phillips believes that her career experiences have given her a deeper understanding of how chronic medical issues and psychosocial stressors impact patients and families, as well as, their overall mental health and quality of life experiences. She is passionate and committed to empowering and enriching the lives of others.
Ms. Phillips is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Accredited Case Manager. She received her Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) degree from the University of Georgia and Masters of Social Work Degree from Georgia State University.
