Vulvar cancer is rare, accounting for 5% of female reproductive cancers and less than 1% of all cancers in women. The survival rate for vulvar cancer varies by whether and how far the disease has spread when diagnosed. Localized cancer, which has not spread beyond the vulva, has a better survival rate than regional cancer, which has affected nearby lymph nodes or tissues, or distant cancer, which has reached parts of the body such as the liver, lungs or bones.
