The Advanced Practice Providers (APP) Fellowship Program at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is a one-year program that prepares fellows to become highly skilled in the multidisciplinary, collaborative and evidence-based management of complex and challenging patients in medical oncology and hematology, bone marrow transplant and radiation oncology.
About the Program
The program is structured to develop and strengthen proficiencies within the clinical setting while developing collaborative communication qualities within a multidisciplinary team of well-rounded healthcare providers. Graduates transition to practice with the expertise necessary to deliver quality patient care at the top of their licensure.
The innovative curriculum covers the entire spectrum of oncology from cellular basics of cancer, including management of benign hematological disorders, through long-term survivorship. They have exposure to the care of oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings with rotations through subspecialized clinics, allowing the fellow to cultivate knowledge of specific oncology diseases. The clinical rotations provide fellows with both solid and hematologic malignancy encounters simultaneously. The well-rounded and all-inclusive fellowship experience includes participation in services such as palliative care, survivorship, integrative medicine and clinical trials.

The fellowship experience is comprised of a core curriculum, weekly didactic sessions, direct patient care, specialty rotations, simulation training, journal club and case presentations. The comprehensive post-graduate approach offers the advantage of a guided learning experience and direct patient care within a protected learning environment, which increases provider confidence and awards a smooth transition to practice.
