Clinical Specialties Dr. Brat is a Board Certified Anatomic Pathologist and Neuropathologist who specializes in diagnostic neuropathology, primarily brain tumors. Dr. Brat and his colleagues are responsible for the pathologic diagnosis of brain lesions from patients seen at Emory Healthcare and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta hospitals.
Research Focus Dr. Brat's research interest is in mechanisms underlying glioblastoma progression and regulators of asymmetric cellular division in glioblastoma stem cells. Dr. Brat is Director of Winship’s Cancer Tissue and Pathology Shared Resource, co-founder of Emory’s In Silico Center for Brain Tumor Research, and maintains an independent brain tumor research laboratory.
Education Dr. Brat earned his Medical Degree from the Mayo Medical School and his PhD from Mayo Graduate School. He completed his Residency in Anatomic Pathology at Johns Hopkins Hospital where he also completed his Fellowship in Neuropathology.
