To the Winship Community,
The next 24 hours are critical as we wait to hear if legislators will work out a deal to raise the debt ceiling and avoid a possible US default. Yesterday, S. Wright Caughman, Executive Vice President for Health Affairs, CEO of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center and Chairman of Emory Healthcare, sent a letter to each member of the Georgia delegation on behalf of Emory University. I thought you would be interested in what he has to say about the effect of the government shutdown and on-going sequester specifically on Winship and our clinical trials process.
After reading this letter, you might consider also sharing your views with your member of Congress from your district and our two US senators.
Whether these issues are resolved within the next few days, or not, Winship will continue to provide the best care possible for our patients, while pursuing vital cancer research.
